Hi, I’m Melissa Cleland.

I’m a seasoned professional with 20+ years of experience in destination marketing, hospitality, and event management. Since 2003, I’ve been dedicated to driving engagement and promoting vibrant destinations through creative, results-driven strategies.
​
Currently, I serve as the Destination Marketing Consultant for the Southwest Idaho Travel Association (SWITA), where I work closely with cities, regional organizations, and state tourism offices to elevate Southwest Idaho’s visibility and support its tourism economy through strategic campaigns and partnership development.

I’m a connector at heart—passionate about creating meaningful experiences that bring people together and spotlight the unique stories of the places I represent. Whether I’m helping local businesses gain visibility, curating unforgettable community events, or building strategic partnerships, I lead with purpose, creativity, and a deep sense of place.
Beyond my consulting work, I serve as the Volunteer Coordinator for FitOne Boise, one of Idaho’s largest annual wellness events, where I help organize and inspire a team of volunteers who power an event rooted in community and wellbeing.
I also proudly serve on the board of directors for Skål International - Boise Chapter and the Travel Alliance of Idaho—organizations committed to advancing tourism, cultural exchange, and professional connection both locally and globally.

I hold a Master of Arts in Communication and Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a Marketing minor from Boise State University.
